There’s been a slight change in plans, but don’t worry, it’s all good.

With the low turnout/interest in the CONCACAF Champions League (for shame!), we’re cancelling the watch parties for the CCL. The next event is for MLS First Kick, Thursday, March 19th. We’re expecting more interest for this game. If you plan on showing up, please send an email or post on the BigSoccer thread so we have a better idea of who is showing up.

Announcement :: Two Watch Parties This Week

Want to watch the Round 1 of the CONCACAF Champions League (CCL) quarterfinals with us?

We’re having two watch parties this week for the CCL games. The first is for the Houston Dynamo game (Tuesday) and the second is for the Puerto Rico Islanders game (Thursday). Both parties will be at Buffalo Wings and Rings, the location where we held the USA/Mexico event. Full pages for the events will be up later tonight.

Sorry for the short notice, but we had to wait for confirmation from BWR that they were going to carry the games. More events of this kind will be coming up soon. Target number one for the next event the MLS opening week, but if things go well for these two events, we’ll be holding more CCL events. We’ll also consider UEFA Champions League parties later on.

We had a great turn-out for our watch party tonight. Thanks to everyone that came out, especially those of you that had a little bit more than a crosstown drive!

It certainly seemed like everyone had a great time. We were even fortunate enough to have one of the leaders of the Tampa Bay Rowdies supporters group join us. It was great to meet you David, and we hope to stay involved with your group. The conversation during the game was wonderful, and always polite, despite being held between fans of rival MLS clubs. Adam would especially like to thank Betty for her generous gift of a USA scarf. Sadly, those scarves are hard to find in Orlando.

We’re also going to start a cap system based on the events we hold. Everyone that was there tonight will get their first cap. The table will be up on the site soon. Adam’s got a pretty good idea of everyone’s names, but if you are accidentally omitted please understand it is not intentional. If that happens, just email us with your name and we’ll fix it right away.

News :: Orlando Tuzos President Named

We still don’t have an official announcement, but the Orlando Tuzos now have a team president.

C.F. Pachuca president Jesus Martinez announce a few days ago that he has named the president of the Orlando Tuzos. Luis Baraldi will now head up operations for the Orlando Tuzos. Baraldi was previously the vice-president of C.F. Pachuca.

Martinez also offered more clarification on the USL/MLS confusion. USL was picked specifically because of its structure. It allows them more flexibility in personal because the team owns the players, instead of the league (as in MLS).

All and all, this is great news for the Orlando Tuzos. This shows once again that despite the lack of an official annoucement, the team is indeed a reality. What is taking so long, no one knows. Stadium issue continued to be assumed as the culprit, but that is merely conjecture. For those of you that were worried (understandably), we now have a bright glimer of hope. Keep holding out. MLS hopefuls are in the same boat.

News :: Pachuca Starts the Season Off With a Bang

UNAL Tigres took on our parent club C.F. Pachuca in the opening weekend of the 2009 Clausura season.

The Tuzos dominated the game, ending with a 4-1 final. It looks like the Interliga final’s momentum continues on!

In other viewing party news, the Sweden party has been cancelled. We wanted people to have more time to plan, plus the Mexico game is just too perfect for us to make our debut since the Tuzos are owned by ”Mexico’s Team,” Pachuca. Sorry to those that were looking forward to it.
